Life Updates

While I apologize for the slight hiatus (whoops…), I’m happy to say I am back and ready to rock.

Get ready for some life updates:

  • I’m on the path to graduate. In three short months, my time at McGill will have come to an end. As much as I claim to hate this school/city/province, I’ll be sad to leave my life here behind. I think I should begin to consume mass quantities of poutine immediately, because my days in Quebec are numbered.
  • McGill flooded. My aunt and mom saw this YouTube video on the news, and called me frantically: “A girl was taken by flood waters!! She looked like you!! Are you okay?!” Little did they know, I had yet to leave the house that day (I lead a very exciting life). “Flood Girl” is now a meme, and she has managed to remain entirely anonymous within the student community – so, kudos to Flood Girl.
  • I landed a summer internship in Toronto! For now, that’s all I can say, but let me tell you – this summer is going to be incredible. Gah! Can’t wait to get my internship chops on. And buy more grown-up clothes.
  • I’ve decided to take a huge academic risk once I graduate. In fact, even mentioning my plans online are risky, because I tend to shy away from any discussion of potential failures, just in case things don’t work out. But, here goes! As a child, I always romanticized doctors – I thought they were amazing, with their stethoscopes and lab coats. In high school, I convinced myself that medical school was out of reach, and I dropped all of my science classes to focus on the humanities. But now, four years later, I am beginning to re-consider medicine as a prospective career path. I know I’m an English and Poli Sci major, and I know I have no experience in science, but I plan on taking a year of pre-medical sciences in Toronto next year to prepare for the MCAT, and if all goes well, apply to medical schools across the country soon after that!

I finally feel like life is starting to happen. Soon, I’ll have a degree, an internship, and maybe, eventually, a career in medicine. Or, for all we know, I’ll change my mind tomorrow. Don’t put it past me; anything could happen. I promise to keep you all posted.

Until next time, keep on rockin’!
